Softball Drops Series Opener to Centenary

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas softball team lost their conference game against Centenary College on Friday.  They fall to 5-19 on the year and 0-10 in conference.

Dallas 0, Centenary 4

WP: Anna Scarbrock (5-8)

LP: SunnyDale Thies (2-8)

The Ladies took a 1-0 lead on a couple of base knocks in the first, and that would be all the scoring they needed to win the game.  Play moved at a blistering pace, as both pitchers made short work of their opposition.

The box score doesn't do justice to SunnyDale Thies' performance on the mound.  Though she surrendered 10 hits, she also struck out six batters and walked only one in seven innings of work.  And though the Ladies racked up those hits, Thies got out of her jams and did well to limit the damage, with the Ladies never striking for more than one run at a time.

Thies didn't get the run support she needed, however, as the Crusaders were held to two hits in a shutout.

The series concludes with a doubleheader tomorrow (April 8).  Game one is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
