Bulldogs Take Series Opener

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas softball team lost their conference matchup with Texas Lutheran 8-0 on Thursday.  They fall to 2-14 in conference play and 5-29 on the year.

WP: Sydney Ouellette (8-3)

LP: Karina Campo (4-13)

Things were quite tight in the early goings; it seemed that the Crusaders might have it in them to stun the Bulldogs, who came into the series 15-0 in conference and ranked third in the nation in Division III.  Dallas held the Bulldogs scoreless through the first two innings.  It could have been three straight zeroes for Karina Campo if not for a pair of errors and subsequent unearned runs in the third inning.  

Texas Lutheran came out swinging in the fourth, however, and there would be no more cheap runs.  They scored four runs on fourth hits in the fourth, and plated two more in the fifth to make it 8-0, leaving Dallas down to their final three outs.  The Crusader's offense couldn't get anything going against Sydney Ouellette, managing just two hits in the game, and would fail to score in the fifth, giving TLU the win via mercy.

The series concludes tomorrow with a double header.  Game one is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. first pitch, with Senior Day celebrations taking place before the pregame announcements.
