Anderson Earns All-SCAC Second Team; Coutts Honorable Mention for Softball Conference Accolades

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – In exclusive all-conference voting by the head coaches of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the Softball All-SCAC Postseason Awards and Teams were released on Thursday, May 6.

The University of Dallas softball team had a pair of players selected with honors, headlined by Annabel Anderson (Midlothian, Texas) on the All-SCAC Second Team. Madison Coutts (Tampa, Fla.) was named on the All-SCAC Honorable Mention list. The top of the order duo each earned a conference postseason accolade for the first time in their respective careers.

Anderson provided the thunder in the UD batting order, mustering a team-high 26 hits in 79 at bats for a .329 batting average. She clobbered four home runs, which tied fourth in the conference, and added five doubles. The outfielder also totaled 11 runs scored and batted in. In 26 games played this spring, Anderson recorded a hit in 16 of them and 10 were multi-hit results. This included two 3-for-4 performances, as well as a 2-for-3 game and lone RBI in the conference tournament for Dallas. Defensively, she had 30 put outs and made six assists playing mostly right field and did fill-in center field when necessary. Anderson was voted the Team MVP for the Crusaders by her teammates.

Coutts was the other player from UD to represent the school with all-conference. Primarily a catcher, Coutts showed off her defensive utility by also filling in at third base in several games this spring. The third-year player did end up at the backstop position for the majority of contests late in the year. She threw out nine base runners and was charged just one passed ball. Overall her fielding percentage was .964, having committed just three errors. She had 50 put outs and 31 assists. At the plate, Coutts totaled 14 hits and had 10 games with hits. This included four multiple hit outings. Coutts doubled three times and also had a triple. She drew a team-best 11 walks.
