UD Softball Closes Home Regular Season this Weekend vs. Schreiner; 5 Seniors to be Recognized Sunday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas softball team hosts Schreiner University for its final Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) weekend series. This will be a four-game series, the second against an SCAC opponent this spring. Dallas split with Austin College on March 20-21. The first three contests of the series are counted toward conference.

Following the games on Sunday, UD will recognize five seniors: Emily Martin (San Jose, Calif.), Liz Cordova (Oklahoma City, Okla.), Maggie Watts (Arcadia, La.), Karly Girod (Fort Worth, Texas), and Caitlyn Stevenson (Henderson, Nev.).

Dallas is 3-15 overall and 2-13 in the SCAC. The Crusaders did pick up their first win in April on Tuesday with a game two victory, 8-4, at University of the Ozarks.

The Crusaders are led offensively by Annabel Anderson (Midlothian, Texas) with a .309 batting average. She has logged 17 hits, including three of them as home runs. The most recent long ball was at Ozarks. Karina Campo (Georgetown, Texas) hit her first homer of the season and was 3-4 with four RBI in the win.

In the circle, Maggie Watts (Arcadia, La.) leads all pitchers with 49.2 innings pitched. She also has started 10 times, whereas three other UD pitchers have started no more than three times.

Schreiner enters with a 12-19 record and 7-7 mark in the conference for fourth place. The Mountaineers have won five straight, but have slumped away from home with a 3-13 mark. Their winning streak included sweeping five games at home the past week and a half with Austin College and Trinity University.

SU is led offensively by Marley Carrizales and Danielle Pedraza with 35 and 30 hits, respectively. Pedraza has logged a team-high 12 doubles, while Carrizales is one of two players to eclipse 20 runs scored. Hannah Kollmansberger has driven in 22 runs. And joins Bri Wodtke with three homers apiece. Marley Hilton was named SCAC Pitcher of the Week for her 2-0 performance during the streak. She went 10 innings and scattered seven hits and allowed three earned runs while striking out 11.

The games on Saturday and Sunday will be recorded and uploaded to College TV Ticket as a tape delay, should there be technical difficulties at the field. There will just be livestats for Sunday's doubleheader.
