Softball's Rasmussen Selected to SCAC All-Tournament Team

SHREVEPORT, La. – At the conclusion of the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Softball Tournament on Sunday, the league announced the SCAC All-Tournament Team. University of Dallas softball pitcher Paige Rasmussen (El Campo, Texas) was one of three pitchers selected to the group of honorees.

Paige Rasmussen pitched outstanding in three starts during the SCAC Tournament this past weekend in Shreveport, Louisiana. The freshman righty made her first start since March 16 and twirled 16 combined innings that included a seven-inning complete game victory over fourth-seeded Schreiner University. Her strong outing helped the sixth-seeded Crusaders earn an upset and continue playing after prevailing in that elimination game snapped a six-game tournament slide dating to 2016.

Rasmussen pitched well in her other outings, going six shutout frames with four strikeouts to third-seeded and host Centenary College in the first day. She gave up just two runs in her third inning of work that was the same day as the stunning triumph against the host team again.

Rasmussen also batted in the win and posted an RBI walk after battling through a 20-pitch at bat that included 14 straight foul balls. Rasmussen would also be the lone Dallas player named to the all-tournament team.

On the season, Rasmussen made 13 appearances (10 starts) and posted a 3-6 record with a 3.20 ERA through 70 innings. She struck out 24.

Rasmussen is just the fourth member of the Dallas softball team named SCAC All-Tournament Team (member since 2012) and is the first pitcher selected. Brittany Castro (2013) – SS, Avery Finch (2014, 2016) – CF, Stephanie Cervantes (2017) – C.
