Cordova Earns SCAC Softball Player of the Week

LIZ CORDOVA OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a sophomore outfielder from Oklahoma City, Okla., has been named the SCAC Softball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, February 11th through Sunday, February 17th.

Cordova batted. 500 (6-for-12) over four games during the opening weekend for the Crusaders. She went 2-4 with a double in the team's comeback win over Southwestern College to start the campaign.

On Sunday she logged four hits, including a perfect 3-3 in a 3-2, 8-inning win against Hendrix College. In the triumph, Cordova reached base four times and was a factor in the trio of scoring plays for Dallas. She scored a run, drove in one, and singled to start an 8th-inning rally that allowed Emily Martin to pinch run and eventually come in on the game-winner. Dallas is 3-1, which is the best start since 2008.

Dallas continues its season with a tournament hosted by Huntingdon College on Feb. 23-24. The Crusaders will play Huntingdon and College of Mount St. Joseph (OH) both days.
