Softball Head Coach Krysiak Accepts Position at Carnegie Mellon University

IRVING, Texas – University of Dallas softball head coach Beth Krysiak announced this week that she has accepted a position at Carnegie Mellon University as the assistant head coach. She will begin June 1.

Krysiak completed five seasons at the helm for the Dallas softball program. Her length of tenure matches Rachel Hanson (2006-10) as the longest for the program. Krysiak picked up 79 wins to rank second all-time among coaches.

When the school's sixth head coach arrived in 2014, Krysiak led the Crusaders to a six-win improvement (12-29) and best conference record in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) at 7-15. Their win total was the highest since 2010, and despite a 1-2 record in the league tournament both setbacks were by a run.

The next two seasons, Krysiak guided the team to back-to-back third place finishes in the SCAC regular season, eclipsed 20-win seasons for the first time in program history, and tied the highest conference winning output with 13.

Under Krysiak, the Crusaders qualified for the SCAC Tournament each year, listed 30 players with SCAC All-Conference accolades, 10 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-Americans, and one National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) West All-Region awardee.

Academically, UD boasted seven student-athletes as NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, three-time USCAA National All-Academic Team winner, and 23 SCAC Spring Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll names (2018 not released yet) during Krysiak's watch.

Behind Krysiak's guidance a plethora of records were shattered with 39 current marks. In 2015, there were four individual rankings and one team ranking in the NCAA Top-50 for the squad. The all-time and single-season stolen base leader, Avery Finch, ranked eighth in stolen bases per game (.83). The Crusaders as a team cracked the top-10 for stolen bases per game with a 2.67-clip for seventh.

Carnegie Mellon University will open intercollegiate play next spring at UPMC All American Park located in Trafford, Pennsylvania. The Tartans are affiliated with NCAA Division III and a member of the University Athletic Association (UAA). Monica Harrison is the head coach for the program and has spent the past full season recruiting for the program's inaugural campaign in 2019. 

A national search for the next Dallas Head Coach will begin immediately.
