Enciso, Underwood, Duenas Named on Softball All-SCAC Teams

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced the 2018 All-Conference Softball Team on Thursday afternoon. The University of Dallas softball team had three players – all freshmen - earn honors.

Headlining the trio was Alicia Enciso (Corona, Calif.) on the All-SCAC Second Team. Gabbie Underwood (La Verne, Calif.) and Julie Duenas (Houston, Texas) were selected for All-SCAC Honorable Mention.

Complete Release

Enciso earned on the second team for short stop. She emerged as the leadoff hitter this season for the young Crusaders team, that features seven freshmen with at least 20 appearances. Enciso completed the regular season atop the squad in batting average (.361), hits (43), doubles (10), runs (23), and walks (17). She posted a .922 fielding percentage, 133 assists, and 56 assists in 38 starts at short.

Underwood follows with the second highest batting average (.339) in 38 starts. She is the other player to eclipse 40 hits and has driven in a team-high 25 runs. Underwood displayed a strong weekend series earlier in the spring to notch SCAC Offensive Hitter of the Week. Since that week, the first baseman cemented herself in the middle of the batting order.

Duenas claimed the final award for UD as a utility player. She has split time in the lineup at third base and as the designated player. Duenas batted .315 for the fourth highest average. She compiled 29 hits, six doubles, and batted home 16 runs. Three of her two-baggers occurred in a single game versus Austin College (March 17th) to match the school record.

Dallas qualified for the SCAC Tournament as the No. 6 Seed. It takes on the No. 3 Seed Southwestern University on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
