FIRST PITCH

The University of Dallas softball team plays a final time this regular season at home versus Austin College on April 22-23. Both doubleheaders are slated for 12 p.m. starts. Dallas is 11-25 overall and 6-14 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The Crusaders currently sit in fifth place and need just one win to guarantee a spot as one of the six teams going to Seguin, Texas, for the conference tournament in a week.

The Crusaders matched a season-high 11 runs in their previous two games, sweeping Centenary College last Friday in 11-3 and 11-6 fashion. This split the overall series with the Ladies, but UD has enjoyed positive momentum since a four-run seventh inning in the second game last Thursday. Despite the rally coming up short, the Crusaders pounded a combined 22 runs and 23 hits in their first triumphs of April the next day.

UD NOTES

- Jade Miller (Plano, Texas) remains atop the SCAC leaderboard in batting average (.472). Since ending a 14-game hitting streak two weekends ago, Miller has resumed a new stretch of six straight.

- Miller continues to boast team-highs in total hits (51), runs scored (26), doubles (9), triples (3), and stolen bases (24). Her total amount of steals ranks third in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

- Allison Kotlar (Edna, Texas) recorded a hit in every game during the Centenary series, including a 3-for-3, RBI, and two runs scored in the finale. That lifted her batting average to second on the squad (.284).

- Stephanie Cervantes (Temecula, Calif.) rounds out the top trio in batting average with a .281 mark. The catcher reached base in all four games last weekend. This included a 3-for-4 with a two-RBI double in the second game as she etched a hit in the first three contests.

- Mackenzie Tano (Wylie, Texas) and Cervantes tied Miller for the team lead with two home runs overall. The first two mentioned each went yard in the third game of the series. Tano punched a three-run homer and is second on the team in ribbies with 19.

- Allie Driskill (Houston, Texas) knocked in a combined five runs in both UD's wins and had a 5-for-7 day at the plate. She has plated 22 Crusaders to lead the Navy and White.

- Lauren Galvan (Houston, Texas) and Katie Lee (Houston, Texas) both have eclipsed 100 innings pitched with 102.1 and 101, respectively. Galvan leads the staff in wins (6) and earned her first career save last week. Lee increased her all-time record in strikeouts thrown to 282.

SCOUTING THE ROOS

- Austin College enters the series 7-29 and 2-18 in league games. Both conference victories were one-run decisions.

- The 'Roos swept Brooklyn College in a non-conference twinbill a week ago. The scores were 9-1 and 13-0. The latter was a no-hitter tossed by Tori Herrera.

- The 'Roos are 3-13 in away games.

- Two players have batted north of .300 and played at least 30 games. Cassidy McDaris leads the duo with a .348 average and Beth Massey has batted a .336 mark.

- Massey is the leader on the squad in total hits (38) and doubles (8). She is tied with Kat Wright for homers (4).

- McDaris follows with 31 base knocks and has a team-high 19 RBI. Ashley Mayorga has contributed 17 ribbies and scored just as many runs for second on the team in each of those categories.

- Mayorga's 28 hits round out the top three in that column and she has a team-high 11 steals.

- Herrera leads the staff in appearances (21), innings pitched (116), ERA (3.50), and strikeouts (117). She has punched out the second highest total of opponents in the SCAC.
