Southwestern put runners at second and third in its first turn to bat, but Galvan got out of the inning with a fly out to center.

Unfortunately the Pirates compiled eight runs on just as many hits in their second inning up. The first six batters up reached, with five via a base knock. Bacon doubled to left center to leadoff the frame. After Marissa Irvin reached, Andrea Hern reached on an error and Bacon scored the tying run. After another single loaded the bases, Scott doubled to center and drove in two. The home squad continued to add on as Copher's three-run homer and Bacon's two-out solo shot capped the massive inning.

The Crusaders answered with two runs in their next turn to hit in the third. Kotlar laced a two-out double to left field. Miller reached on her second straight infield hit, and a defensive miscue by SU allowed her to advance to second and Kotlar scored. Savala drove in Miller a second time on the game right after.
