@UDallasSoftball wins both over Southwestern Assemblies

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas softball team (2-2) triumphed 6-3 and then 7-0 over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (3-7) on Tuesday evening at Crusader Field.

The doubleheader produced Beth Krysiak's first wins as head coach.

GM 1: Dallas 6, Southwestern Assemblies 3 (F/7): Box Score

Freshman starting-pitcher Chloe Campise (Lewisville, Texas) received plenty of run support in the early going.

Dallas scored four times in the first inning, which included a three-run blast to left field by freshman third-baseman Alex Compte (Houston, Texas).

Compte's long ball was the Lady Crusaders' first of the season.

Campise (1-1) navigated though the first seven Southwestern Assemblies' batters, before surrendering a double in the third inning to Blayr Huff.

Huff tried to leg her hit into a triple, but was thrown-out on a relay from junior right-fielder Ashley Pickert (Lenexa, Kan.) through freshman second-baseman Taylor Templin (Fort Worth, Texas) to Compte.

In addition to the outfield assist, Pickert doubled twice in the contest.

The Lady Crusaders added insurance, in the fourth inning, as Templin and freshman center-fielder Avery Finch (Jamul, Calif.) each crossed home plate to make the score 6-0.

Southwestern Assemblies recorded two of their three errors in the inning.

The Lady Lions countered with a three-run fifth inning, but came no closer to the navy and white on the scoreboard.

Campise earned her first collegiate win in the complete-game effort, while Hannah Lee was hit with the loss.

GM 2: Dallas 7, Southwestern Assemblies 0 (F/7): Box Score

Following two errors in the top of the first inning, freshman right-handed pitcher Katherine Lee (Houston, Texas) managed to get out of a bases-loaded jam for Dallas.

Lee (1-0) ended with her first collegiate victory as well, following a complete-game four-hit shutout.

Head coach Beth Krysiak's squad continued their offensive prowess into the night cap.

Finch executed a bunt single in the bottom of the first, and then stole two bases.

Sophomore shortstop Erin Begle (Houston, Texas) made the game 1-0, when she knocked-in Finch on a sacrifice-fly to center field.

The Lady Crusaders scored four runs in the second inning, and chased starting-pitcher Blayr Huff (L). She was relieved by Lee, who pitched the duration of game one.

Freshman right-fielder Taylor Dion (Keller, Texas), freshman first-baseman Ciara Stewart (Crockett, Texas), Templin and Pickert all rounded the bases in the second.

The latter two student-athletes scored on a left-field double by Begle.

Dallas recorded a solo run in the fifth and sixth frames to take a 7-0 lead.

Freshman left-fielder Lyda Tesauro (Hollywood, Fla.) singled to center field in the fifth, to score Finch.

Dion scored via an error in the sixth, after hitting a double near the left-field stripe.
