Men's Cross Country Wrap Up Regular Season at Naimdau Classic

October 13, 2023

ABILENE, Texas - The University of Dallas men's cross country team competed in the Naimadu Classic 8k hosted by Abilene Christian University on Friday.  The Crusaders raced shorthanded as Paul Simko was unavailable for the meet, missing out on some crucial team points, finishing in seventh place with a total time of 2:37:06 and 190 points.

The hosts Abilene Christian claimed the team title with a total time of 2:04:58 and a score of 29 points.  Alex Ntiyani of Oral Roberts claimed the individual title with a final time of 24:25.88.

Nico Walz lead the way for Dallas in 36th place and nearly replicating his PR performance in last week's Old Glory Gallop with a time of 28:39.03.  Thomas Skendzel (pictured) was next in 43rd place with a final time 29:21.81, just 10 seconds from matching his PR.

Bruce Reed finished in 45th with a time of 29:30.68., crushing his previous best by nearly a full minute.  James LaTour finished in 51st with a time of 31:18.88, and Tim Kus rounded out the field for the Crusaders with a new PR of 38:16:00.

"Since we didn't have a full team for today, we were more focused on indivudual results and being tuned up for the conference meet," said head coach Nick Schneigert.  "Our freshman did absolutely amazing, PR's top to bottom so I'm very proud of them all.  We definitely have a great future ahead of us."

This was the final meet of the regular season for the Crusaders.  All that remains is the SCAC Championship on Oct. 28, which will be hosted by Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas.
