Crusaders finish 6th at SCAC Championship

KERRVILLE, Texas – The University of Dallas men's cross country team claimed 6th place at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship on Saturday. Dallas totaled 162 points, as the squad edged Texas Lutheran University and Schreiner University in the eight-team standings.

Trinity University won the championship with 35 points, while Colorado College was right behind at 41. Johnson & Wales University, a newcomer to the SCAC, rounded out the top-three in the standings with 93 points. 

Joseph Kilmer (Rockville, Md.) and John James (Metairie, La.) led the Crusaders to a pair of top-30 finishes with respective times of 27:54.14 (21st) and 28:08.28 (23rd). UD's top running duo each counted season-bests in their 8k races.

Andrew Maal (Pueblo Springs, Colo.) completed the top-three times for Dallas with a personal record (PR) 29:57. Elijah Depew (Grove City, Pa.) got timed a season-best 30:13.57.

Michael Bujard (Uvalde, Texas) made his cross country debut, and posted the team's 5th best time at the conference championship with a 31:31.40. Gabe Volpe (Okla.) and Ty Moran (Sallisaw, Okla.) garnered PR's 31:59.37 and 32:00.

Peter Hedlesky (Florissant, Mo.) ran a season-best 33:58.45 time. Nick Wallisch (St. Paul, Minn.) made his collegiate college career debut. Jonah Costello (Anchorage, Alaska) added a PR 35:09.21. Shivam Mishra (Jamshedpur, India) ran in his first 8k of his career.
