Men's Cross Country 3rd at 2018 Saints Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas women's cross country team competed in the 2018 Saints Invitational hosted at Windcrest Golf Club. Similar to last week, storms created a course that featured difficult racing conditions, and this time the men's team was running an 8k distance.

Four teams from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) participated including Dallas, who placed third as a team with 76 points. Austin College (47) narrowly edged Texas Lutheran (48) by one point. After UD were Texas College (78), Schreiner University (98), and Sul Ross State University (122).

Joseph Kilmer (Rockville, Md.) scored three points to lead the Crusaders with the fastest time of 29:06.0. He ranked 29th out of 93 competitors that included runners from NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA.

John James (Metairie, La.) ran the next fastest UD time 30:16.1 and scored seventh for the team. Andrew Maal (Pueblo West, Colo.) tallied a season-best 31:50.5 to complete the top three UD finishers.

The next finisher for the Crusaders was Gabe Vazquez (Clive, Iowa) with a season-best of his own at 35:19. He shaved off a 1 minute and 20 seconds from his time running this same course a year ago.

Henry Vu (Garland, Texas) and Jonah Costello (Anchorage, Alaska) competed in their first 8ks of their careers.
