8 Personal Records Highlight Men's Cross Country SCAC Championships
SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's cross country team competed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships on Saturday. As a team, the Crusaders scored 137 points and finished fifth place overall. Trinity University won with a 24, as seven runners slotted within the top 10 individuals. Colorado College followed with 45 points, and had two runners earn first and third in the standings. This included Max Blackburn headlining the championship with a 25:18 score.
The Crusaders saw eight players set personal records (PRs) on the day.
Joseph Kilmer (Rockville, Md.) claimed the fastest score for Dallas with a 27:14 time that notched him 18th. The team-leader all season for quickest UD times set a PR in his third 8k of the campaign. The previous best was 28:03 at the University of Ozarks College Invitational.
Joseph Boyle (St. Paul, Minn.) earned the second best time on the team for consecutive meets and finished 27th in the conference standings. Boyle etched a 28:09 for a PR of his own as he shaved exactly a minute off his mark at the Ozarks College Invitational. Elijah Depew (Grove City, Pa.) rounded out the top three Dallas times with a PR 28:18 that achieved a 49-second improvement from his earlier best at the Ozarks College Invitational. Depew capped the top-30 SCAC standings, too.
Also generating PR's for UD were: Andrew Maal (Pueblo West, Colo.) at 30:13, Maximilian Wilson (Houston, Texas) at 31:34, Peter Hedlesky (Florissant, Mo.) at 33:35, Gabe Vazquez (Clive, Iowa) at 33:36, and Peter Dinh (Grand Prairie, Texas) 37:03.
Peter deTar (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) ran a season-best 30:45 time, which shattered his old best this year by over a minute (31:52.3). James Klatt (Highwood, Ill.) made his 8k debut.
