Hogan sets 8k School Record; Team takes 11th in USCAA Championship

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The University of Dallas men's cross country team closed out the campaign on a high note on Friday in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Championship. Paced by a school record, which highlighted three personal records (PRs), the Crusaders placed 11th out of 22 schools (334 Points) with an average time of 30:20:18. Thomas Hogan (St. Louis, Mo.) headlined the trio of PRs with a school record 26:24 minute result in the 8k. The new all-time fastest school result that distance shattered a 26:41.97 by Mark Landreneau on September 23, 2006 (Dean White Invitational).

SUNY Delhi (46 points) won first place in the team award. Berea College (60 points) followed with second and Cleary University (103) claimed third. Berea's Isaiah Dodson came out with the individual title by clocking a 25:15 score. Teammate Jeremy Johnson (25:52) rounded out the top three. Josh Keenan (25:21) from Florida College came in second to split BC's attempt at sweeping the top three points.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- Hogan led Dallas with the fastest time for the sixth consecutive meet and placed eighth. The top 10 finish landed Hogan on the USCAA All-American Second Team. The sophomore running in his debut season becomes the fourth member since 2002 (Team did not race 2007-'11) to gain an All-American accolade.

- He is the first member on the men's side to achieve the feat since 2012 when 2015 alumni, Ryan McAnany and Javier Secaira, each qualified.

- John James (Metairie, La.) capped his freshman season with a time of 28:43 minutes. It ranked second on the squad and 45th in a race with 171 competitors.

- Peter deTar (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) rounded out the top three UD runners with a 31:04-mark for 81st.

- Andrew Maal (Pueblo, Colo.) ran a PR of 31:59 and was the final runner under 100 places.

- John Patrick McHugh (San Antonio, Texas) wraps up the trio of PRs with a time of 33:35.
