Men's Cross Country 5th in SCAC Championship

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The University of Dallas men's cross country team finished fifth place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) on Saturday morning. Dallas scored 138 points in what was its third 8K race of the season and in the month of October.

Colorado College (25 points) captured its third straight SCAC Championship. Trinity University (32) and Texas Lutheran University (109) rounded out the top three finishes. Southwestern University (112) took fourth, and the Crusaders finished ahead of Austin College and Schreiner. Dallas edged both teams two weeks ago in its home invitational.

Peter Callan (25:59.28) earned gold individually for Colorado College. The next two individuals in the top three came from Trinity. Austin Brown and Brian Wongchotigul finished second and third respectively with times of 26:23.48 and 26:25.

The top 10 spots were split individually by either runners from Colorado College or Trinity. Dallas' Thomas Hogan (St. Louis, Mo.) claimed the first spot on the All-Conference Second team with 11th.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- Hogan's first conference championship race resulted in a time of 27:12.53 minutes. He has led Dallas runners in all but his season debut this campaign.

- John James (Metairie, La.) broke the top 20 spots with a 19th finish for the Crusaders. He scored a time of 28:08.29.

- Peter deTar (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) was the third fastest runner on the squad with a time of 30:44.54. His result easily improved the time from 2015 by over 2 minutes.

Dallas enjoys a weekend break before competing in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Championships on November 11. That race is hosted in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
