Hogan and James take Top 10 in Home Invitational on Saturday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's cross country team placed a pair of runners in the top 10 and earned sixth place overall on Saturday in the University of Dallas Invitational. The Crusaders registered 145 points and averaged a time of 18:25.04 minutes in the team's 3rd 5K this season out of five races.

Out of 10 programs that qualified for team scores, LeTourneau University (60) won first place. Texas Wesleyan University (64) was second and McMurry University (66) rounded out the top three places that were decided by less than 10 points.

Dallas did claim the lowest amount of points among Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opponents in the race that morning. Austin College (209) and Schreiner (241) were tabbed in eighth and ninth in the rankings.

Individually Marbeq Edgar from Wiley College won with a time of 15:57.9 minutes. Taber Miyauchi from LeTourneau and Michael Benoit from McMurry clocked times of 16:03.4 and 16:15.9, respectively. With Marbeq unattached, Texas Wesleyan's Alan Ramirez recorded the three points toward the team score with a 16:28.5. His teammate Fernando Orellana came right beind with a 16:35.6 and UD's Thomas Hogan (St. Louis, Mo.) completed the top five points earned. 81 competitors raced on the men's side in this morning.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- Hogan paced the Crusaders for the fourth straight meet, including second 5K of the campaign, with a sixth place finish of 16:39.3 minutes.

- John James (Metairie, La.) remained a strong contributor scoring in the top ten as well with an eighth place result of 17:03.5 minutes.

- Peter deTar (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) rounded out the top three best times on UD with a 18:58.6-clip.

- Personal records (PR's) hit for the Crusaders included: Andrew Maal (Pueblo, Colo.) with a 19:14, Maximilian Wilson (Houston, Texas) with a 20:36.5, John Patrick McHugh (San Antonio, Texas) with a 20:09.8, and Andrew Mitch (Toronto, Ohio) with a 24:28
