Hogan and James lead Men's Cross Country at Texas Lutheran Bulldog Invitational

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's cross country team completed the Texas Lutheran Bulldog Invitational on Saturday Morning. Thomas Hogan (St. Louis, Mo.) finished second with a time of 16.33.99 just behind University of Incarnate Word's Deion Hardy (16.32.6). All runners from Incarnate Word were unattached which allowed Hogan to score 1 point. It is his best finish of his young career and first to do it on the Dallas program since Greg Pivarunas at the STLCOP Invitational in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 20, 2007. The sophomore's time also bettered his season best two weeks ago in his debut (16:42).

Another top four finisher for the Crusaders in his second collegiate race was John James (Metairie, La.) A Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Runner of the Week after the first week of the fall, James ran a 16:48.31 and took two points for UD's team score.

Host school Texas Lutheran University won first place with 30 points. Dallas finished behind with 44 and Concordia University rounded out the three with 54. 

WORTH NOTING

- Overall Dallas finished second place as a team. It was first time since the Austin College Invitational on Oct. 18, 2014 that UD notched a place as high. Last year, the Crusaders finished 3rd at this same competition.

- Andrew Maal (Pueblo, Colo.) and Andrew Mitch (Toronto, Ohio) ran season bests with times of 19:18.54 and 25:26.66, respectively.

- Peter deTar (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) finished third on the team with a time of 19:05.96 and ranked 17th in the standings.

- John Patrick McHugh (San Antonio, Texas) and Maximillian Wilson (Houston, Texas) made their season debuts. They posted times of 20:11.6 and 20:48.57 in their first career 5K's.

UP NEXT

Dallas is off the rest of the month. The next race is Oct. 1 at the ETBU Invitational. Last season, this competition was referred to as the Texas Division III Championship.
