Men's Cross Country lands Fifth in Dallas Invitational Saturday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's cross country team took sixth place on Saturday morning at the University of Dallas Invitational. The home race was marked for a 5K competition, as the runners would leg around the course on the campus of UD twice.

Senior Ryan McAnany (Kansas City, Kan.) etched his fifth consecutive meet best team performance for the Crusaders. A time of 16:39 minutes would rank the senior for 5th place in the individual standings.

Fellow teammate Javier Secaira (Tacoma, Wash.) boasted a season personal record (PR) with a 17:12 minute time for 13th place. Another member of the Crusaders running in his final home meet was Jack Grubner (Needham, Mass.) with a 17:43 score. His time ranked him 23rd and was a season PR as he finished in the top three within the squad.

Freshman Rafael Medina (Waco, Texas) and sophomore Peter deTar (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) added times of 18:50 and 18:54 – season PR - , respectively.

Fellow conference foe Texas Lutheran University would take the team award with 56 points on the morning. Southwestern Assemblies of God claimed second place after tallying 63 points and LeTourneau University earned third.

LETU's Taber Miyauchi sprinted for the best time at the end with a 16:17 minute score in the individual medal standings. Jerry Nava from SAGU and Landon Price with East Texas Baptist University rounded out the top three by scoring 16:28 and 16:35, respectively.

Dallas will take another two-week break before heading to Sherman, Texas, for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships on October 31.
