YEAR IN REVIEW: Men's Cross Country

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's cross country team completed a successful year in the fall under first year Head Coach Matthew Barber. The former Crusader athlete helped guide the squad to its second-straight, third place finish in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship, and 18th out of 28 programs in the NCAA Division III Cross Country South-Southeast Regional.

NOTABLE MOMENTS

  • Team claimed a season-best second place at the Austin College Invitational on Oct. 18, 2014.  
  • Junior Ryan McAnany notched lone top 10 finish in the Texas Wesleyan University Ram Rumble with 7th place at a 17:14 mark. It was the season-opener for UD.
  • At the East Texas Invitational, McAnany led the Crusaders individually with a 28:20.1 time and took 10th. Junior Javier Secaira was right behind in 12th posting a score of 28:33.8.
  • Dallas notched ninth out of 16 squads at the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational. McAnany managed the top finish with 10th (27:56.9).
  • Secaira led the Navy and White with a top time and finish of 29:56.76 and 11th, respectively. McAnany and junior Jack Grubner rounded out the top 20 of a 64 participant field with 18th and 20th.
  • A personal record 16:07 minute time locked McAnany in the highest individual finish of the campaign at the Austin College Invitational. Secaira slotted eighth to join the top 10 with a 17:08 score. Grubner reached a season-high 11th place ranking with a personal record (PR) of 17:18 in a 5,000 Meter, and sophomore Gabriel Marasigan earned 13th with a PR of 17:49.
  • In the SCAC Championships on Nov. 1, 2014, McAnany took sixth with a 28:06 mark. Secaira tallied a time of 29:17 and earned 17th.   
  • McAnany ran a 26:49.48 time in the NCAA Division III Cross Country South-Southeast Regional to notch 37th out of 200 competitors.
  • Six members of Dallas committed a season-low time in the 8,000 Meters during the NCAA Division III South-Southeast Regionals: Grubner (29:04), Senior Michael Klem (33:10), Marasigan (28:44), McAnany (26:49), Secaira (28:06), and junior Zach Zendt (30:51).
