Men's Cross Country Completes NCAA South Regional

BERRY, Ga. – The University of Dallas men's cross country team competed in the NCAA Division III South Regionals on Saturday. As a team, the Crusaders finished 18th out of 30 schools posting a combined 2:23:35.29 and reflected a score of 539.

Leading the way for the Crusaders in the 8K race was junior Ryan McAnany (Kansas City, Kan.) with a time of 26:49.48 and 37th in the rankings. He was seconds off from breaking the school 8K record.

Fellow classmate Javier Secaira (Tacoma, Wash.) managed to crack the top 100 (out of 201 participants) with a 96th slot of the standings by running a time of 28:06.51 seconds.

Sophomore Gabriel Marasigan (Orange County, Calif.) and junior Jack Grubner (Needham, Mass.) totaled a 28:44 and 29:04.10, respectively for UD.

Four out of six guys on the navy and white squad notched personal records in the competition. Among those were: McAnany, Secaira, Grubner, and junior Zach Zendt (Belton, Texas). 

Emory College claimed first place in the regional with a 62 and 2:09:37.12 score, just nipping Bridgewater (Va.) by three points and under three seconds. Centre College rounded out the top three with a 110 and 2:11:22.44 total.

This concludes the 2014 season for the Dallas men's cross country team.
