@UofDallas Men's Cross Country notches 'Second Place' at Austin College Invitational

SHERMAN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's cross country team participated in the Austin College Invitational Saturday, finishing second place out of six squads in a five kilometer competition.

It was the highest ranking for the navy and white this campaign, as the team totaled 57 points and several players boasted great performances.

Junior Ryan McAnany (Kansas City, Kan.) set a school record as he posted a 16:07 result. Fellow classmate Jack Grubner (Needham, Mass.) posted a time of 17:18 to hit a personal feat.

McAnany finished with season and team-high second place in the final rankings for Dallas.

Joining the junior in the top 10 was junior Javier Secaira (Tacoma, Wash.), who notched eighth place after he raced 17:08 minutes.

Grubner ranked 11th in the standings, and sophomore Gabriel Marasigan (Orange County, Calif.) was right behind him in 13th with a totaled time of 17:49.

Southwestern Assemblies of God won the overall team award as it garnered 34 points. Behind Dallas rounding out the top three was East Texas Baptist University, who scored 65.

ETBU's Landon Price won the individual contest, placing just in front of McAnany at 16:01 minutes. Chris Burke from Austin College, the host, got third place with a 16:14.

Dallas heads to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by Trinity University, on Nov. 1 at San Antonio, Texas.
