Track and Field Competes at Mean Green Invitational

April 6, 2024

DENTON, Texas - The University of Dallas men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Mean Green Invitational hosted by the University of North Texas on Saturday.  The Crusaders competed in a field of 19 teams, consisting opponents from the NJCAA and all levels of the NCAA.

On the men's side, Nico Walz made his return after nearly a month away from competition, running the 5000m alongside James Latour.  Walz posted a time of 18:18.90 in his first 5000m of the season, and Latour finished in 19:10.24

On the women's side, Bailey Haas posted her second fastest time of the year with a 27.49 in the 200m.  Teresa Cashen posted a time of 2:51.43 running in the 800m.

"When we get the chance toc ompete locally, we jump on it," said head coach Nick Schneigert.  "We tend to travel quite a bit, and we have some big trips over the next three weeks leading up to the conference championships, so this was a good break from a tough travel schedule."

Up next, the Crusaders will compete in the Warhawk Classic hosted by McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.  The meet takes place over two days, from Friday, April 12 through Saturday, April 13.
