Track and Field Has Strong Showing at War Hawk Classic

ABILENE, Texas - The University of Dallas men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their regular season with a strong showing at the War Hawk Classic, hosted by McMurry University.

On the men's side, Johnny Olmsted ran the 200m in 22.41, then broke his own school record in the 400m with a time of 49.28, shaving nearly three tenths of a second off his previous best.  Caleb Clayton ran the 800m in 2:27.46, and the 1500 meters in 5:16.25.

Nico Walz and James Latour ran the 5000m.  Walz was just under two seconds from matching his PR, finishing in 17:25.91, with Latour finishing behind him in 18:33.39.

The throwers saw great success on the day.  Liam Hamway nearly matched his PR's in the shot put (10.67m) and discus (22.32m), while Connor Mulcahy (19.05m) and Nathaniel Orf (21.57m) each set new PR's in the discus.  Mulcahy (7.11m) and Orf (6.93m) both also posted marks in the shot put.

On the women's side, Teresa Pinedo nearly matched her PR in the 400 meters, just missing it by less than two hundredths of a second with a time of 1:27.70.  Miranda Roach shattered her previous best in the 1500m by nearly 16 seconds with a time of 6:06.98, having now shaved more than 30 seconds off from her first meet of the season.  Jessie Ramirez had a strong showing as well, nearly matching her PR's in the shot put and discus with marks of 7.12m and 18.21m, respectively.

With the final regular season meet in the books, the Crusaders just have the SCAC Championship to look forward to.  The Crusaders will head to Georgetown on Saturday, April 22nd to compete at the event, hosted by Southwestern University.
