Track and Field Has Big Day at North Texas Classic

DENTON, Texas - The University of Dallas men's and women's track and field teams had an impressive outing at the North Texas Classic, hosted by the University of North Texas, on Saturday.

The men put up a strong showing in the throwing events.  Julio Lima (32.86m) , Liam Hamway (36.96m), and Nathanial Orf (25.27m) all set new PR's in the javelin.  The same trio all set PR's in the shot put as well, with marks of 10.92m, 10.89m, and 7.66m, respectively.

Nico Walz and James Latour ran the 1500m event for Dallas.  The two finished one after the other, Walz in 4:47.54 and Latour in 4:50.30.

On the women's side, Jesse Ramirez set a new PR with a mark of 7.33m in the shot put, and posted a mark of 12.78m in the discus.  Miranda Roach and Teresa Pinedo ran the 800m together, with Roach posting a PR of 2:56.17.  Pinedo finished in 3:35.66.

"It was great to have a local meet where our athletes were able to go home and celebrate Easter with their families," said head coach Nick Schneigert.  "It's been great watching Miranda develop as a mid-distance runner coming to us from a soccer background, and she seems like she's going to have a high skill ceiling.  It was awesome to see all the PR's today, and I'm happy with how everyone is progressing as we get closer to the Conference Championship."
