Track and Field Prepares for TSU Relays

HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Dallas men's and women's track and field teams will be competing in the 70th annual TSU Relays this weekend. The mmeet will take place on Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19 in Houston, Texas.

The Crusaders will have a bit of a light squad compared to last week, but will have enough to compete in the event.  Coming off two straight wins and record setting performances, Anna Wilgenbusch will go in as a heavy favorite in the 5,000 meters on Friday.  She demolished her previous record bynearly a full minute at the Jet Relays last week, and will be eyeing an even better time this weekend.

Keila Juarez returns to the squad this week, missing the Jet Relays due to illness last week.  She will be running in the 5,000 meters with Wilgenbusch on Friday, and the 1,500 meters on Saturday.  Caitlin Smith will be running the 100 and 200 meters and is expected to do well, as she has been superb in her first year with the team.

On the men's side, Nico Walz and James Latour will be the distance runners for the Crusaders.  They will both run in the 5,000 meters on Friday and the 1,500 meters on Saturday.  Uniikye Washington, DaShaun Merritt, and Chris Easterday be the Crusaders sprinters for the weekend.  Washington and Easterday will run the 100 and 200 meters, and Merritt will run the 200 and 400 meters.

"This is a good meet for us, especially over Spring Break," said head coach Nick Schneigert.  "It's nice that it's spread out over a couple of days.  It should be a good experience for our athletes."
