Dallas Participates at Leap Day Relays; Two Crusaders Notch Personal Records

JACKSON, Miss. – The University of Dallas men's track and field team competed at the Leap Day Relays hosted by Millsaps College on Saturday. Kevin McGuirk (Front Royal, Va.) grabbed a career-best mark in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 16.66. Joseph Rawicki (Midland, Texas) also notched a personal-best mark in his high school and collegiate career in the long jump with an effort of 5.82m. The Crusaders overall saw success all around in its first outdoor event of the year.

In the Men's 1600 Sprint Medley Rawicki Solomon Schroder (Coupland, Texas), Dominic Engbarth (Magnolia, Texas), and Caleb Clayton (Kerrville, Texas) combined for a time of 4:30.97 for a fifth place finish.

McGuirk competed in the Men's 400 Meter Hurdles race and grabbed a first place finish with a time of 59.53.

In the second relay of the day, McGuirk, Nicholas Vega (Dallas, Texas), Thomas Lagarde (Linden, Va.), and Rawicki competed in the Men's 4x400 Meter Relay and finished with a time of 3:38.78. Vega made his collegiate debut on the day.

Rawicki (12:09), Brand (12:85), Vega (13:06), and Schroder (13.61) all competed in the Men's 100 Meter Dash. Rawicki paced Dallas with a 10th place finish in the game.

Lagarde grabbed a time of 4:29.51, while Clayton finished at the 5:14.36 mark in the 1500 Meter Run with a 10th and 17th place finish, respectively.

In field events, Dallas had three participants in long jump. Alex Brand (5.87m), Vega (5.58 m), and Engbarth (4.50 m) all competed in the making their debuts in this event.

A couple more debuts were seen in triple jump as Brand and Vega jumped 12.03m and 10.39m, respectively.

In the Men's Shot Put Engbarth threw 7.26m for fifth.

McGuirk threw 41.50 meters in the Men's Javelin Throw for a third-place finish.
