Crusaders Fall to Centenary College 1-0 on Sunday
SHREVEPORT, La. – The University of Dallas men's soccer team stumbled at Centenary College on Sunday afternoon. The Crusaders (2-5) were outshot 21-11 on the day and were limited to just three shots placed on frame. Caleb Strange (Argyle, Texas) notched eight saves on the day to keep Dallas in the game. Wil Escobar scored the lone goal on the day for Centenary (4-2) in the 64th minute unassisted.
Dallas almost had the first goal of the game in the 3rd minute of play when Jose Salinas-Arreola (Katy, Texas) struck a ball that hit the crossbar. Chima Ogueri (Garland, Texas) and Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas) both had early shots that were blocked by the Gents defense. Both goalies kept clean sheets with solid saves down the stretch as the match headed into halftime scoreless.
To open the second half, both teams came out firing shots. The Gents took four of those shots, but Strange was able to swallow up the one on frame. In the 64th minute Escobar broke the scoreless tie finding the back of the net. Dallas had three shot opportunities the rest of the game but were unable to find the equalizer. The Dallas defense was tested all the way until the end as they were forced to block two more shots and secure a save.
Ogueri led Dallas with four shots in the game, placing one on goal. Brady McNamara (San Antonio, Texas) and Reynolds both added two shots for UD. Strange fell to 2-5 as the Dallas goaltender saving eight shots for his second-highest mark in the category on the season.
Greg Petreas and Nick Garcia led Centenary with four total shots each. Escobar followed his teammate with three shots striking two on goal. Sami Borchalli made three saves for the Gents.
Centenary College won the corner kicks battle 5-2.

Dallas will turn the page to October starting conference play next week. The road trip continues as the Crusaders will travel to take on Southwestern University on Friday at 8:00 p.m. UD will then play at Texas Lutheran University on Sunday.
