Men's Soccer Scrimmaged Coastal Bend College on Thursday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team played a pair of scrimmages against Coastal Bend College on Thursday afternoon. It was the first time the Crusaders played an opponent on the new field.

After the reserve game started things off at 4:30 p.m., the varsity match featuring most of the starters from the 2017 squad that led Dallas to a second place finish in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) took place after. A penalty kick in the first half by Cody Briggs and second half goal by Nate Riddle thanks some nifty footwork lifted the Crusaders to a 2-0 final.

The match did count for the Cougars, who fell even at 1-1 on the season.

Dallas opens the 2018 regular season Friday, August 31 against Sul Ross State University. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m., and will be the first contest under the lights for the new soccer facility.
