KICKOFF

The University of Dallas men's soccer team wraps up the regular season on Friday at 4 p.m. versus Colorado College. Dallas (12-2-2, 10-1-2 SCAC) has won a season-high, six-straight matches and has tied its longest streak without a loss this season.

The Crusaders continued their best season in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) by reaching double-digits in victories and clinched a first round bye with a second place finish in the league. It is the highest finish since joining the SCAC for UD, who take on third-place Colorado College in the regular season finale.

Dallas has won all three of its home matches on the current four-game span. This included a pair of one-goal conference wins over Texas Lutheran University (3-2) and Southwestern University (2-1).


UD NOTABLES

- Dallas is 6-1-1 at home and away in 2017.

- The last men's soccer team for UD to win at least six straight matches was the 2008 squad with 10 (October 9th – November 9th). The setback was in the first round of the program's only NCAA Division III Appearance.

- Hunter Haugland (Bixby, Okla.) and Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) keep battling for the top offensive spots. Haugland leads with 22 points and is second in goals (8) and assists (6). Kajiwara follows with 21 points, but is the team leader in scoring results (9).

- Kajiwara and Haugland are second and third, respectively, in total goals for the SCAC. The tandem flip slots in the points category.

- Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas) has contributed a team-high seven assists. The freshman has four helpers in the last four contests. He assisted both goals in Sunday's 2-1 triumph.

- Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) is tied for second in the league with fewest goals against (11). He ranks third in save percentage (.796) and goals-against average (0.79).

- Andrew Ciancone (Houston, Texas) won SCAC Offensive Player of the Week, as UD claimed the accolade consecutive weeks. The junior scored three of his four goals this season, including two against Texas Lutheran.

- Dallas was just outside the top-25 rankings for the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Poll, but continue receiving votes and are the first listed in that group. The team is also sixth in the NCAA DIII West Regional Rankings. Friday's opponent is No. 4 and Trinity University is No. 1.


SENIOR DAY

Prior to the start of Friday's match, the Crusaders have seven seniors that will be recognized. This group includes: Luke Schwarz (Tucson, Ariz.), Jake Schnell (Austin, Texas), Joseph Quiray (Sugar Lake, Texas), Joe Wiele (St. Louis, Mo.), ( Keaton Van Eck (Norman, Okla.), Trae Hampton (Paducah, Ky.), and Craig Nakutis (Jackson, Tenn.).

- These teams played to a 0-0 tie in Colorado Springs earlier this year. It was the conference opener played over a month ago and took place on a wet field and was called in 105 minutes due to darkness after a two hour lightening delay.

- In 2016, The Tigers prevailed at Crusader Field 1-0. The goal was notched in the 73rd minute.


OPPONENT NOTABLES

- Colorado College is 10-3-4 overall and 8-2-3 in the SCAC.

- The Tigers have gone 6-2-2 in road matches, which includes 4-1-1 against conference foes.

- CC tied Texas Lutheran University last Sunday.

- Joel Frykholm leads the team in goals (7) and points (15). Cam Stopforth has provided a team-leading six assists with four goals to follow with 14 points. Tim Huettel completes a trio of players with at least 10 points on three goals and five assists.

- Theo Hooker paces the conference goalies with top marks in save percentage (.821), goals against (10), and goals-against average (0.64). He has 49 saves and eight shutouts.


UP NEXT

The SCAC Men's Soccer Tournament will be in Irving, Texas, November 3rd-5th. Dallas is the number two seed and will play on Saturday against the winner of the third seed and sixth seed match.
