SHERMAN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team tied a season-high four goals for the third time this season and notched consecutive shutouts on the road trip after defeating Austin College Sunday. A pair of goals per half were plenty as the Crusaders blasted 20 shot attempts and had a season-most 14 shots on goal. The top two players in points entering the match remained there as Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) and Hunter Haugland (Bixby, Okla.) scored twice and gave an assist.

Haugland got the visitors in front six minutes into the game by shooting a ball to the right lower corner that came from a throw-in left of the field by Eric Haigh (Frisco, Texas). With about 25 minutes until halftime, Kajiwara netted his first of two scoring plays in a row to make it 2-0. Haugland and Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas) assisted that goal.

In the second stanza. Kajiwara found another goal at the 50:28 minute mark. Tomas DePetris (Houston, Texas) took a set piece and the rebound came to the freshman leading scorer for his eighth this fall. Kajiwara later got his fifth point of the match on his first career assist to Haugland 10 minutes later. The second goal by Haugland also resulted in him garnering five points. This is the second time this campaign the sophomore has reached that mark with the previous coming a week ago versus Schreiner University.

UD compiled season-bests in points (13) and assists (5), while limiting Austin College to 11 shots led by Phillip Le with a game-high five. Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) posted another clean sheet giving him five this season. The freshman goalie made four saves and improved to 6-1-2.

The Crusaders move to 9-2-2 on the year and 8-1-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The conference win gives Dallas its highest total since joining the league in 2012. The previous-most was seven in 2015. UD has 26 points now and remains in second place in the standings. The Crusaders also have wrapped up the road portion of their regular season and went 6-1-1 away from the friendly confines.

Dallas takes a break from the SCAC after 11 straight matches and will host Southwestern Adventist University on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. On Friday, October 20th, the Crusaders host Texas Lutheran University at a different time than normal due to a conference policy on scheduling. The kickoff will be earlier at 2 p.m. and the women's match will follow.
