Ogueri and Carlin take USCAA Men's Soccer Weekly Player of the Week Honors

NORFOLK, Va. - The University of Dallas men's soccer team swept the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Men's soccer Player of the Week Honors with two members of the team being rewarded. Chima Ogueri (Garland, Texas) and Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) earned the accolades with offensive and defensive weekly honors, respectively. Both received their first awards with the conference. UD had Luke Schwarz (Tucson, Ariz.) and Tino Gamueda ('16) gather USCAA weekly recognition on separate occasions in 2016.

The duo each contributed major roles in the Crusaders 3-2 upset at No. 4 Trinity University last Friday. Ogueri scored two goals, including the golden goal at the 95:51 minute mark. He attempted three shots overall and placed all of them on frame. Ogueri also was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Carlin improved to 2-0-1 after playing the full overtime match in goal. The keeper made three saves and corralled several loose balls in the box to help sustain a late opportunity for Dallas to knock off a team that had won 47 straight home matches dating back to 2013. Carlin also combined for a shutout on Sunday at Schreiner University by working a clean first half.

Dallas (3-1-1, 2-0-1 SCAC) is home for the first time since its opener on the first day of September this Friday against Centenary College of Louisiana. Kickoff is slated for around 5 p.m.
