SHERMAN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team (10-5-1, 6-4-1 SCAC) prevailed in a 2-1 contest at Austin College (1-11-4, 1-8-2 SCAC) on Tuesday afternoon.

Dallas has been scorching, winning six of the last seven; a tie on Sunday being the lone break in a previous five-game victorious stretch. That span also counted towards a season-best for the navy and white.

The Crusaders capitalized off a goal in each half, and benefited from Barton Holdridge's header in the 87th minute to break a 1-1 tie. It was the forward's first goal of the campaign, and came from an excellent cross pass on the left side by Nathan Nwaeze.

Nwaeze also had a big day, knocking in the first netter for Dallas, and giving him a team-high three points in the victory. Sophomore midfielder Ben Mannings (Bath, England) was credited with the assist.

In the first half, the squads battled back-and-forth before the Crusaders got on the board with a goal at the 36:12 minute point of the contest. It would remain 1-0 at halftime.

Austin got the equalizer from Gideon Ibemere with Seth Windsor tallying an assist at the 73:09 mark of the game.

As regulation closed to a finish, it appeared consecutive overtime matches would be possible for the navy and white, but Holdridge clinched the match off a fantastic game-winner.

Nwaeze reflected a big day in the stats with seven shot attempts, and boasted a team-high four balls on target. Senior midfielder Matthew Wise matched him with seven shots, placing two on goal.

Other players earning multi-shot days included: Luke Schwarz and Holdridge with three apiece, and James Bernard adding a pair.

Defensively sophomore goalkeepers P.J. Hasson and Tino Gamueda notched the start in the net for Dallas. Gamueda was credited with the victory (7-3) after allowing a goal and picking up four saves in the second frame.

Hasson drew the start in the first half, nabbing two saves through 45 minutes.

The Crusaders held a 24-13 shot advantage in the affair.

Dallas will travel for its last pair of regular season road matches this weekend on Oct. 24 and 26. The games are at Southwestern University and Trinity University beginning at 6 p.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
