Crusaders fall in SCAC Men's Lacrosse Opening Round on Friday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team dropped its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) semifinal match on Friday to Southwestern University, 23-2. The Pirates (10-6) raced out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter, netting 11 goals, and eventually built a 14-0 halftime lead.

The third-seeded Crusaders (1-9) would score in the third quarter and held the Pirates to five goals over 30 minutes in the middle of the match. However, the second-seeded team finished the last quarter with seven more goals to eclipse 20 in the game.

Southwestern will take on the No. 1 Seed Colorado College on Sunday at 12 p.m.

14 players for Southwestern found the scoring column. Zac Asbury scored all three of his goals in the first quarter for one-of-two hat tricks for the team. He added a trio of assists in that same frame to achieve a game-high six points. Blake Sterger also grabbed a hat trick with back-to-back goals in the fourth.

Dallas got on the board in a man-down situation as Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.) scored at 6:41 to break a 15-0 run. Jameson finishes the spring with a team-high 35 goals and 44 points to give him 59 and 70, respectively, through two seasons.

Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) put in a late goal in the fourth to solidify his career records in the program for points (99) and goals (76). Smith also checks in second in the program with 23 assists and 155 ground balls. He is also third all-time in faceoff wins with 155.

Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) assisted the last goal to push his single-season record total to 16. The midfielder career total for helpers doubles that at 32 and breaks his previous record set in 2018.

Bogar Trout III (Tecumseh, Mich.) added two caused turnovers to lead him for sole possession in the career record books. The junior now has 50 in three seasons, which edged teammate Jacob Tom in 2017.

Dallas ends the season surpassing record offensive totals from a year ago that include: assists (74), goals (144), and points (218).
