Huge Numbers for Several Crusaders Leads to 23-4 Final at Johnson & Wales University (CO)

AURORA, Colo. – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team exploded for eight goals in each quarter in the first half to run away with a 23-4 final at Johnson & Wales University (CO) on Saturday afternoon. It was the Crusaders (4-8) first win against an NCAA Division III program this season and came against a fellow member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).

Several players produced nice numbers for Dallas in the match. Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.) netted a career-best 10 points thanks to seven goals and three assists, which were also personal-bests in each category. His previous high in goals was six in the season-opener against Louisiana-Lafayette (Feb. 2). Jameson also now has 54 goals in two seasons with the team, which is tied for third with Matt Cyr. The sophomore equaled 70 points to propel him to third all-time. Peter Early is next at 77.

Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) boasted a career game with eight goals and 10 points for the most in a single-game for the midfielder. He increased his all-time marks in goals (75) and points (98).

Austin Gibbons (St. Charles, Ill.) rounded out the trio of point totals eclipsing nine thanks to four goals and five assists, which led the squad. Eight of his nine shots were on cage.

Joshua McClendon (Redondo Beach, Calif.) broke his own faceoff single-game record by one, as he went 19-of-27 in the faceoff circle. The Crusaders won 21-of-30 overall.

Bogar Trout III (Tecumseh, Mich.) matched the career program record for caused turnovers (48) with a pair in the game. He also garnered six ground balls, which tied McClendon for second behind the team-leader Joseph Kilmer's (Rockville, Md.) eight.

Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) contributed a pair of goals and three assists. McClendon repeated those same numbers, and Damien Walz (Irving, Texas) collected his first collegiate point with a helper as well.

Frederick and Gibbons were each able to shatter the single-season assists record (12) held by Joey Mullen in the program's inaugural season (2011). Frederick ended up with the top-mark at 15, while Gibbons slots right behind at 14.

The team compiled new program-highs in points (40) and assists (17) by topping the match two weekends ago against Hardin-Simmons University. Those previous highs were 39 and 15, respectively.

Gibbons, McClendon, and Smith put the Crusaders on top by three with less than four minutes into play. Jameson assisted McClendon's goal.

After Deshaunte Longely scored for the Wildcats (1-10), it was another trio of goals, with two by Smith to notch the hat-trick with about five minutes to play.

Longely led JWU with three goals.

The Crusaders scored eight times in the first two quarters to go up 16-3. Smith (4) and Jameson (3) were responsible for seven of the scoring plays. Frederick landed the other. Dallas held the opposition scoreless in the second quarter and to one goal at 9:36 in the third. Dallas would put the final five goals in with a different scorer each time, before neither team put a goal in the final 15 minutes.

Dallas edged the Wildcats 43-27 in ground balls and forced 24 turnovers. The Crusaders went a perfect 17-for-17 in clears and shot 34 of the 42 attempts on cage.

Jordan Livingston had 11 saves in 60 minutes for the Wildcats. Hector Pinell-Sanchez (Manor, Texas) only faced eight shots and made four stops.
