Men's Lacrosse Cruises to School Record 27-10 Victory

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team erased an early 1-0 deficit and would build an 11-3 advantage after one quarter to go on and win by a 27-10 final over University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Dylan Sherman put the Rajin Cajuns on top a little over a minute in, but Ben Blessard (Falls Church, Va.) equaled the scoreboard a couple minutes later at the 11:50 mark. 23 seconds later, Austin Gibbons (St. Charles, Ill.) secured his first collegiate goal to put the Crusaders in front the rest of the way. Gibbons finished with five goals and dished one of the team's eight assists.

Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.) led all scorers with a career-high six goals. Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.), Blessard, Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas), and Joe Anderson (Fair Oaks, Calif.) all also had big games with at least four points notched.

Joshua McClendon (Redondo Beach, Calif.) broke the single-game faceoff wins record with 18. The previous was 16 by Chris Kerner versus Millsaps College on March 12, 2011, which was the programs inaugural season.

Dallas held advantages in shots (58-30), faceoffs won (21-20), and groundballs (51-40). The home team committed seven fewer turnovers (27-20) and were 22-of-27 on clears.
