FIRST FACEOFF

The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team begins the 2019 season at home on Saturday against club team University of Louisiana-Lafayette. This is the second year in a row the Crusaders are opening the campaign at the friendly confines.

Keith Loftis enters his first year at the helm, joining the Crusaders last month. He arrives from Assumption College, where he guided the Hounds for six seasons in a tough NorthEast-10 Conference at the NCAA Division II level.

Dallas is coming off a 6-7 season, which marked the most wins in the young program's history.

- Dallas opens with a roster of 16 this season, led by 14 returners.

- Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) was named the team's MVP last season and put up personal and team-highs in points (39) and goals (29).

- Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.) dialed 24 goals in his first season a year ago.

- Chasen Reynolds (Fallbrook, Calif.) rounded out a quintet of players that eclipsed double figures in goals scored with 10.

- Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) dished a team-best 13 assists.

ABOUT THE RAJIN' CAJUNS

- Louisiana went 8-5 in 2018. This included 5-1 in the Division and 1-1 in the playoffs.

- The Rajin' Cajuns are members of the MCLA Lone Star Alliance.
