2nd Half carries Salem State over Men's Lacrosse

SALEM, Mass. – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team finished its road trip on Monday with a 9-4 setback at Salem State University. Dallas erased an early deficit at the half thanks to Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.) equalizing the score at 3. However, six unanswered goals for the Vikings in the second half downed UD.

Charlie Bourgeois was responsible for the damage in the second stanza, as the leading scorer posted four of his five goals in the third quarter for all the scoring plays.

Salem gained the early advantage within the first four minutes as Zach Persson (13:26) and Craig Denehy (11:26) each scored.

Peter Early (San Antonio, Texas) found the back of the netting to get the Crusaders on the board at 9:24. Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) was credited the assist. After Bourgeois tallied a goal for the home team to take a 3-1 lead, UD's Chasen Reynolds (Fallbrook, Calif.) capped the highest scoring quarter with exactly five minutes left to play.

Over 15 minutes went by until late in the second when Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) found Jameson for the tying goal. It was Smith's 15th career assist and kept his point-streak to seven straight matches.

After being knotted over six minutes in the new half, Bourgeois pulled the Vikings away with four goals in the next three minutes. Craig Denehy assisted the first pair of goals during that run.

Hunter Spencer posted two goals in the fourth to finish off Salem's second half surge. Dallas' J.P. Hasson (Fairfax, Va.) completed the scoring of the game with 5:12 remaining. The freshman stretched his goals-streak to 11 matches and kept his streak of registering a point in all matches this campaign.

The Vikings held a 43-27 edge in shots and 27-12 edge in groundballs. Turnovers were nearly even, with the Crusaders committing one less (16-15). Salem only had one unsuccessful clear (25-26) compared to UD going 17-for-25.

Christian Lopez (Las Vegas, Nev.) made 13 saves against 22 shots faced in 60 minutes. His counterpart Chris Schaub garnered 14 saves in 54:19 minutes. Zach Isham added two in the remaining time between the pipes.
