Men's Lacrosse starts Spring Break Trip with 14-8 Setback in Neutral Site Game

ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team fell to Greensboro College 14-8 in the first match of a three-game trip over Spring Break. The Crusaders have dropped their last three to move to 3-4 overall. Greensboro won its seventh in a row, as the two programs met on Oglethorpe Field in a neutral site batt.e

Dallas was outscored 5-2 in the first quarter, with the first quartet of goals counting for the Pride. Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.) put the Crusaders on the board with 4:42 left. J.P. Hasson (Fairfax, Va.) assisted the goal. Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) found the back of the cage a minute later to cut the margin in half.

Andrew Klementz had netted the first two goals of the game, and Michael Halladay was the other player with multiple goals through one with his second coming at 1:52 to cap the scoring plays that frame.

The Crusaders used a 2-1 advantage in the next stanza to make it a 6-4 deficit at halftime. Cole Griffin (Lucas, Texas) answered a goal by the opposition, and then Hasson scored on a man-up goal with a little over five minutes left. Frederick assisted that last goal mentioned.

A 4-1 third quarter lifted Greensboro to a wide enough lead the rest of the way. Three straight goals within four minutes to start the quarter made it 9-4. Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) halted the run at 5:20 with his first goal of the afternoon.

Smith finished with a pair of goals and assists for a team-high four points. Hasson followed with three as he scored twice and added a helper. Dallas tallied four assists in the match. The Pride outshot the Crusaders 46-21, but just 24-17 for shots on goal.

Turnovers ended up even at 16 apiece. Greensboro won 19 faceoffs in 25 chances. Ryan Cole ended up scoring a game-high five goals. Three different players landed two goals for the Pride.

Stephen Tanner grabbed nine saves in goal, while Christian Lopez (Las Vegas, Nev.) made 10 for Dallas.

UP NEXT

Dallas will play on Oglethorpe Field again this Tuesday against host school Oglethorpe University. These programs met in 2016 in Irving, with the Crusaders prevailing 10-7.
