LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Beginning the 2015-16 academic year, men's lacrosse will return as an officially recognized Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) sponsored sport.
"At the end of the 2014 season, due to injuries and roster attrition, the membership had fallen below our minimum standard of four competing teams," said Commissioner Dwayne Hanberry. "After agreeing to assess the viability of the sport following the 2015 season, we are excited to announce that we are reinstating men's lacrosse as an officially sponsored conference sport effective the 2015-16 academic year."
Centenary College, Colorado College, University of Dallas and Southwestern University will be the four teams competing in 2016. In the previous seasons that the sport was sponsored by the SCAC, Colorado College was the regular season leader and won four of the five SCAC championships.
During the 2015 season, Dallas returned to the pitch under first-year head coach Keith Lindgren, where he guided the squad to a 5-12 record. This is the highest win total in program history for the Crusaders.
