Men's Lacrosse handles Centenary College (LA), 22-6, at Crusader Field; Sporleder stars for Dallas with 7 goals and school-record 17 ground balls

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team (3-10, 1-5 SCAC) accounted for nine of the first ten goals scored on Wednesday evening at Crusader Field, before dismissing Centenary College of Louisiana, 22-6.

Porous weather in Shreveport, La., cancelled the originally scheduled Mar. 11 game which was to take place at Centenary.

5-foot-10 freshman attack Frank Sporleder (El Cajon, Calif./Granite Hills H.S.) led the Dallas charge, amassing a game-high seven goals on eight shots on goal, to go with a 14-of-17 mark from the face-off circle and a school-record 17 ground balls.

As Dallas' 'go to' player in 2012, Sporleder leads the team in goals (33), points (38), shots (137), shots on goal (67), face-off wins (105) and ground balls (114).

The Crusaders tallied the game's first four goals, and motored to a 12-3 halftime advantage over the Gents.

Outscoring Centenary 10-3 over the contest's final two periods, Dallas finished with 63 shots, 33 shots on goal and 66 ground balls. The Crusaders also took the face-off battle, winning 22-of-31 from the center stripe.

Five of Dallas' eight goal-scorers totalled at least two goals in the win over the Gents, with 5-foot-11 freshman midfielder Cody Wooten (Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) finding twine three times.

Registering eight saves in 45 minutes of play, 5-foot-10 senior goalkeeper Blaise DuFrain (Manassas, Va./Seton H.S.) notched his third victory of the season. 5-foot-10 freshman 'keeper Paul Domalakes (Frackville, Penn./Nativity BVM) fortified the pipes for Dallas in the fourth period, but needed to make just one save because of a prowess Dallas offensive attack.

Dallas takes to the road for the remainder of the season, and up first for the Crusaders will be a Friday, Apr. 13 tilt in Sewanee, Tenn., versus the Tigers of Sewanee: University of the South.
