Soulliere and Zhang Finish Top 10 at UHV Fall Classic

VICTORIA, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team wrapped up competition in the UHV Fall Classic hosted by the University of Houston-Victoria on Tuesday.  The Crusaders finished in fourth place in the field of nine schools with a three-round score of 922 (+58), finishing three strokes behind third place Texas A&M-San Antonio.  Centenary College, the only other SCAC program at the event, finished in ninth place.

The hosts, UHV, took first place with a final score of 899 (+35), just one stroke ahead of runners-up Blinn.  Joshua Van Der Wath of UHV was the individual champion, finishing -2 for the tournament while also recording the low round of the tournament with a 69 in round one.

Rex Soulliere (pictured) led the way for Dallas shooting 74, 74, and 78 to finish +10 for the tournament and claim eighth place.  Mike Zhang was right behind with rounds of 77, 75, and 75 to finish +11 and notch the first top 10 finish of his career.

Iain Griggs saved his best golf for the final day, climbing four places on the leaderboard with a 76 in round three to finish +18 for the tournament in a five-way tie for 19th.  Trey Schneider shot rounds of 80, 78, and 77 to take 24th place at +19, and AJ Prudence rounded out the field for Dallas with a 35th place finish at +25.

The Crusaders have one more event scheduled for the fall portion of their season.  They will tee off next Monday, Oct. 23 at the Chicken Express Classic hosted by Wayland Baptist University.
