Dallas will play the final 18 holes of the tournament on Tuesday.
The University of Dallas baseball team played their home opening two games series against LeTourneau University on Wednesday. In game one, a low scoring defensive game turned lopsided when the Yellow Jackets scored six runs in the last two innings for a 8-2 victory by LeTourneau. In game two, Dallas rallied back to claim the win 6-1. After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, Dallas put together a trio of two-run innings in the 1st, 3rd and 4th. Zach Taylor (Humble, Texas) was responsible for most of the offense in game two with a two RBI single in the 1st and an RBI double in the 4th. Hardy pitching performances by starter Tyler Montemayor (Boerne, Texas) and relievers Andrew Magness (San Antonio, Texas), Ryan Flores (San Diego, Calif.) and Jon Talley (Pineville, La.) kept LeTourneau's offense hampered allowing only one unearned run and four hits along with nine strikeouts.

In the 1st inning, UD third baseman Joe Vondrachek (North St. Paul, Minn.) was hit by a pitch, and then stole second and third. Two batters later, shortstop Michael Jaquez (Irving, Texas) drove in Vondrachek on a single to left center field.
In the top of the 3rd, the Yellow Jackets took a 2-1 lead after Cody Stanley hit a two-run homer run down the left field line.
Dallas tied the game in the bottom of the fifth after a double to left by Vondrachek and an RBI triple to right by Jaquez.
LeTourneau took firm control of the game in the 6th inning. Bryce Brueggemeyer led off the innings with a single up the middle followed by a walk to Noah Arellano. The next batter was Weston McKinley who singled in Brueggemeyer to make the score 3-2. The next batter, Jagger Vaughn, then doubled to right center field scoring Arellano for a 4-2 lead. Two batters later, Anthony Ybarra hit an RBI groundout to second, and then Kameron Lindsey singled in a run to make the score 6-2.
In the top of the 7th, LeTourneau put the final seal on the game as Arellano hit a two-run homer to left field making the score 8-2.

In game two, LeTourneau started with two quick outs before Brueggemeyer hit a single off of the pitcher. Brueggemeyer scored on the next at-bat off a fielding error by left fielder Maverick Martinez (Friendswood, Texas).
In the bottom of the inning, Dallas took the lead 2-1 on a bases-loaded single by Taylor driving in Vondrachek and center fielder Michael Anderson (Denver, Colo.).
In the 3rd inning, Dallas scored two more runs as catcher Ross Lowe (Lewisville, Texas) hit an RBI double off the right field wall scoring Nathan Patton (McKinney, Texas) and after a sacrifice bunt by Nicolas Hovde (Waco, Texas), Andrew Womack (Vienna, Va.) drove in Lowe with an RBI single to right.
UD scored their finals runs of the game in the 4th inning. After a single and stolen base by Vondrachek, Anderson singled to right to plate Vondrachek. Three batters later, Taylor doubled to left center to score Patton to bring the score to 6-1.
Montemayor, who started the game for Dallas, pitched 3.0 innings allowing just two hits and the only run of the game, which was unearned, along with three strikeouts. Magness was the first relief pitcher allowing just one hit, zero runs and two strikeouts in 2.0 innings pitched. Flores followed Magness also giving up only one hit and zero runs with two strikeouts in just one inning of work, and Talley finished the seven inning game allowing zero Yellow Jackets to reach base and recording two strikeouts.
Vondrachek was the biggest brightspot for the Crusaders on offense going 4-7 with four runs scored and three stolen bases for the series. In game one, Jaquez went 2-3 with a triple and two RBIs and Taylor was 2-3 with a double and three RBIs. Patton, Lowe, and Womack all had two hits apiece in game two.
Dallas plays its next series on the road against Howard Payne University on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th. Game times will be at 2 p.m. on Friday and 1:00 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader will be a seven inning game.
