SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team finished in second place after 36 holes of day one in the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational at Starcke Park Memorial. The Crusaders shot a 286 in the first round and 291 in the second round to finish with a 577.

Only McMurry University was ahead of the reigning 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Champions with a 570 (279, 291), as it scored the lowest round score on the day in the opening 18 and matched UD for the second lowest score in the second round.

LeTourneau University rounded out the top three team scores with a 579 (287, 292), and University of Texas at Dallas posted the lowest second round score with a 289 to improve it to a 584 overall and tie with host Texas Lutheran University for fifth.

Dallas completed the first round in third just behind TLU but have found itself above four conference schools that include: Southwestern University (4th), TLU, Trinity University (7th), and Centenary College (9th).

Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) carded a personal-best 68 in the first round to tie him for third individually. He was the second-best score among individuals in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in that frame. Hamm shot a 73 to match Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) in the second round. Hamm sits tied for fourth with a 141, while Montalvo is three strokes behind at 147 and tied for eighth.

Trey Schneider (Mooresville, N.C.) submitted a career-low 71 in the second round to lead UD through those 18 holes. Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) turned that total in after his first round to finish second on the team with Montalvo at the time.

Lane Roye of McMurry is the individual leader with a 139 (70, 69), as he shot -3 and rose from being tied in seventh after a round. Cory Gillespie of LeTourneau University maintained his second place spot with a 140 (67, 73) and was joined by McMurry's Clemente Yanes (68, 72). Trinity's Daniel Nunez and Southwestern's John Kellum are tied with Hamm.

Individual Standings

This is the third straight fall season the Crusaders have opened at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational and posted their lowest two-round score of the trio. Hamm also has posted his best two-round performance in those tournaments, while Montalvo is a stroke higher than what he displayed last season.
