PREVIEW: Crusaders Set for SCAC Championship

BLANCO, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team will compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship on Monday, April 22nd and Tuesday April 23rd. This year's tournament will be held at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.

Dallas finished fourth in the 2018 conference championships. During the 2019 season, the Crusaders participated in several tournaments that included fellow conference opponents: Southwestern University, Texas Lutheran University, Schreiner University, Trinity University, and Centenary College. The highest point of the season included a second-place finish at the Rhodes Collegiate Spring Classic. UD goes into the conference tournament ranked 43rd, which is a seven-spot improvement from this time last year. It also marked a five-spot jump from the last poll a week ago.

Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) leads the team with an average score of 73.90, playing in eight tournaments (20 Rounds). His best finish on the season was a fourth place finish at the Rhodes College Spring Classic. Montalvo set a low two and three round school record with a 139 and 210, respectively. He finished below 70 in three different rounds on the current campaign, creating four Top-10 finishes.

Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) played in 18 rounds this season for an average mark of 74.83. He finished ninth at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational in the first tournament of the spring, where he notched his lowest round on the season with a 67 on the final 18 holes. He also placed T-7 at the Rhodes College Spring Classic, where he recorded a 69 in round two.

Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) competed in eight different tournaments this year. He has a 77.25 average score, playing in 20 rounds. He shot a season-best 69 in the final round of the Rhodes College Spring Classic to help secure his best finish on the year (T-19).

Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) also played in all eight tournaments for the Crusaders on the current campaign. He has an average score of 76.05 in 20 rounds of play. He notched a Top-10 finish in the Schreiner Spring Shootout, where he tied for eighth. Hamm carded a 147 (74, 73) to boost his momentum. His lowest career round score was a 70 in the second turn through 18 holes at Rhodes College Spring Classic.

Seth McNeill (Plano, Texas) participated in five tournaments (13 rounds) for an average score of 77.92. He tied for 12th place at the Centenary/Hal Sutton Invite after recording a 158 (73, 85). McNeill also finished T-19 at the West Region Invitational at the end of March.

Dallas, as a team, set a low two and three round record (573, 858) in its last contest. UD secured five Top-5 finishes on the season.
