Montalvo and Evans Finish T-8 to Lead Crusaders at West Region Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team finished up the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club on Tuesday. Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) and Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) tied for 8th place to lead Dallas. UD finished fourth out of nine teams with a total score of 914 at the tournament ahead of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opponents Centenary College and Southwestern University (B).

Montalvo moved up seven spots after he finished +1 on the day for a 226 (76, 76, 73). Evans tied his teammate with a 226 (76, 71, 78). Seth McNeill (Plano, Texas) carded a 79 on the day for a 233 (75, 79, 79) as he placed T-19.

Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) made a big jump on day moving up nine positions to finish in a tie for 24th. Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) carded a 77 on the day to place himself in a tie for 28th.

Evans and Montalvo both had six birdies to lead Dallas in the tournament. Montalvo and McNeill were second and third among all players with 39 and 36 pars, respectively.

Montalvo led the whole group in Par 5 scoring after he shot -4 (4.67 strokes) on those holes.

Colin Uecker (Texas Lutheran University) won the tournament after he shot -3 over both days for a total score of 213 (72, 72, 69). Matthew Christl (Southwestern University) and Devon Horne (Southwestern University) finished in a tie for second with a score of 218.

Individual Standings

Southwestern University (888), Texas Lutheran University (889), and Nebraska Wesleyan (901) finished as the top three teams.
