Hamm Leads Crusaders in Schreiner Spring Shootout; Dallas Finishes 6th

KERRVILLE, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team finished up the Schreiner Spring Shootout on Tuesday. Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) led the Crusaders in the tournament with his best two-round finish of his career after shooting a 147 overall, with a 73 mark in Round Two. He tied for 8th in the overall field. 

Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) finished with a 77 on day two for a 154 through both rounds. Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) placed third for Dallas with a 155. Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Calif.) and Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) shot 161, 162 through both rounds as they helped contribute at the Comanche Trace Golf Course.

Dallas finished in sixth place out of 10 total teams. UD edged out Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opponent Trinity University who came in eighth position.

Peter Thorseth of St. Thomas was the champion of the tournament after he shot five under par with a 69 and 70 on his scorecard each day. Ryan Kyaw (California Lutheran) and Steve Landry (Our Lady of the Lake) tied for third with -3 par. Both shot 70 on day one and 71 on day two.

The University of St. Thomas (TX) won the tournament with a total score of 591 (294, 297). McMurray University finished six strokes (292, 305) behind St. Thomas for second place. Host Schreiner University finished in third with a 605 (300, 302).


UP NEXT

Dallas will participate in the Centenary Hal Sutton Invitational at Stonebridge Golf Club next Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 18-19). The Crusaders will just compete individuals with Seth McNeill (Plano, Texas), Nigel Riess (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Trey Schneider (Mooresville, N.C.) expected to debut this spring.
