Crusaders Begin Spring Season at Schreiner Spring Shootout on Monday (Mar. 11)

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's golf team will begin its spring schedule on Monday (Mar. 11) at the Schreiner Spring Shootout at Comanche Trace Golf Club in Kerrville. The first meet of 2019 will be a three-round event starting on Monday and finishing up on Tuesday. Head Coach Garett Smith is entering his third season at the helm. This year's roster consists of eight golfers, including six returners.  

Returning to the links this year include senior, Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Calif.). Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) returns along with classmate Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.). Both have earned SCAC All-Conference accolades. Rounding out the six returners are Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas), Seth McNeill (Plano, Texas), and Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico). Trey Schneider (Mooresville, N.C.) and Nigel Riess (Brooklyn, N.Y.) are the newcomers added to the squad this season.

Dallas competed in four tournaments this past fall. As a program UD shot a program-best 280 in the third round of the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational and finished fourth out of nine teams at the tournament. Montalvo boasted the best score for the Crusaders by setting the new Low Three Round Record 212 (71, 72, 69). He carded a 69 in the final round for a personal-low finishing in fifth place.

At the UMHB Crusader Intercollegiate Dallas finished in fourth place overall. UD also competed at the Rhodes College Men's Fall Collegiate Golf Classic.

UD concluded the fall portion of the season at the Alamo City Classic. The Crusaders finished in third place as Schuberg led the team by shooting a personal-best 73 to claim second place.
