Golf Completes 2 Rounds in West Region Invitational on Monday

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team competed two rounds in the first day of the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club. This is a final tuneup before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship in two weeks.

Last year's champion and the host of today's tournament, Southwestern University, led through 36 holes with a 593 (294, 299). Concordia University followed with 596 (305, 291), and Mary Hardin-Baylor completed the top three with a 612 (309, 300).

Dallas currently ranks sixth in the standings at 613 (309, 304), and is one stroke behind fellow SCAC foes Texas Lutheran University and Trinity University. The Crusaders are ahead of Schreiner University, who posted a 617 for seventh.

Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) led the Crusaders with a 152 on the day for a tie in 15th. He totaled a team-high seven birdies, which was the third most from those on the links. He shot a round-best 75 in the first 18 holes. That total matched the lowest score in a round by any UD golfer on the day.

Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) and Will Doctor (Houston, Texas) are the other players that shot a 75 – each in the second round.

Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) shot a 153 (76, 77) overall and is tied for 17th.
